Hey i inserted a dvd in to my imac while in windows. It then crashed so i restarted the imac. Now it freezes on the white screen and just makes the noise its trying to read the dvd. Obivously the dvd is corrupt so it just stays on this screen. I dont have an original mac keyboard and mouse so i have regular wireless ones. I have tryed the following and none of them work.

Holding the mouse button at the startup.
Holding X at the start up

Is there anyother ways or is there a way i can physicaly remove the dvd?

does the dvd drive have a small hole on the front so you can insert a pin to manually eject it?

hey no it doesn't. BUT i have left it for 10-15mins and its now booted into windows.

I suppose this thread can be used for help if anyone else gets this problem.

Well booted into windows but whenever i go into my computer it just crash's and i dont have a mac keyboard to use eject button :(

when you turn the machine on and it makes the lovely "bonnnng" noise, just hold the mousebutton down :)

Its not working , it might be because my usb mouse doesn't come on until about 1-2 seconds after the noise then i hold down the left button but nothing. i tryed holding them all as well but the same :( why didnt they just put a eject button on the side of the imac.

ok this is what you do when this happens .

turn off you mac

get a piece of thin cardboard

insert small bit of the card into the cd slot and hold it to stop the disc spinning (not to hard but enough to stop the disc spinning, you will hear)

start up the mac and hold the mouse button while stopping the disc spin with the card.... after a few seconds it will come out...

its how i fixed mine, and i heard thats how they do it at apple too
