dvd upscaling software

is there any dvd playback software that upscales stadard dvd films to hi-def level ?
ps- for my computer ofcourse.

Technically speaking your software DVD player will upscale it to whatever resolution you run at, won't it? Albeit it isn't as good quality as the ffdshow method, which itself is nowhere near true HD quality.

im not sure it works like that.
i dont beleive im watching DVD's on my pc at 1280X1024 resolution.
would be nice though..
