dvd usb burner, error

im trying to burn a video of my baby daughter to dvd, to post to my family..
my pc doesnt have an internal drive, due to now 5.25" bays..
so bought a usb dvd-rw..

i insert a blank DVD-R disk, a maxell to be exact.
and use imgbrn, and always get this error when attempting to burn..
i get this error with any burning software..

any ideas?

UPDATE:

it burns music to cd's just fine, using windows media player

Try a slower burn speed x4 maybe or try different disks.

Try Nero.

According to google it should work with verbatim x16 dvd-r disk.

People still use DVD drives!! Isn't it easier to email the video to your family or stick it onto a flashdrive and post it, or even upload it and give them the link?

Not if the recipient either doesn't have the equipment to play the video on, or just doesn't know how.

Doesn't get much easier than telling an old relative to stick the disc in the dvd player?

plus, the video is compressed to 4.6gb..
cant email 4 and half gb file lol

i dont like all todays junk like that..
plus, i hardly think my grandmother knows how to use any of that

anyway, fixed the issue.
it turns out, the "new" external dvd-rw drive i bought off ebay, happens to be a cd-rw drive, with modified firmware to recognise dvd media only..
Opening the casing up, reviels indeed, a NEC, CD-RW drive, manufactured in 2003!

getting a refund...

Dropbox is great and a lot easier than putting something onto dvd!
