DVD Volume

I am having issues with getting the volume loud enough on my laptop to hear DVDs properly

If I push the volume right the way up its just ok... but then switch to anything else games, music, any sort of sound and its mega loud.... yet dvds play quiet

Is there an option some place I need to change?

Once the DVD player software has started, check the Wave volume setting in volume control, some DVD playback software seems to adjust it automatically for no reason.

Make sure the DVD player volume, the master volume and the wave volume are all turned up fully.

Both the wave and player volume are maxed... v loud for anything else but quiet when playing dvds still

Hmm is your DVD player set to output to two speakers (as I think it should be for a laptop) or more? Also some DVD players have different settings for sound like quiet, loud, dynamic range etc - maybe you have the 'quiet' mode selected? You've probably already had a look at all that but just in case.
