DVD writer suddenly stopped working

It shows in device manager but has an explanation mark next to it, error code 39

It says re-install driver, I've never installed a CDROM driver for it? Any ideas?

I know its a different error message but it should still fix it, if it doesn't just make sure you back up the bits of registry you remove and then restore them

Just because you haven't explicitly installed a driver doesn't mean windows isn't using one
