DVD's dont play in 5.1

Currently I've got Creative G-500 speakers and a Creative X-Fi Music card

For some annoying reason I can't get dvd's to play in surround. However, HD trailers from Apple in Quicktime work fine in surrond.

Any help will be appreciated

What DVD play back software are you using.

You'll need to find the configuration options of the DVD playback software and set it up for 6 speaker mode. You might also have to find your soundcard options and enable Dolby Digital decoding instead of S/PDIF passthrough, but I guess as you've got 2 channel already you've got that sorted already.

Unfortunately some DVD playback software doesn't allow full 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS decoding, for example the Bronze/Silver Purevideo decoder packages won't do full 5.1

Do you know of any decent free software that will pass the compressed signal from a DVD along to my external DTS decoder?

I'm currently using inter actual player and if there is an option I havn't found it.

Of you have a suggestion for a better DVD player that you know will play in surrond sound plz tell me where i can get it
