Hey guys... they used to burn fine in nero when i had my evga 680i board.. now im using a commando it just says 5% and ive waited 20mins.

any ideas? im guessing its a driver issue or something? it reads discs fine... as i installed vista using the drive.

its the nec/sony optriac one sata drive

I had similar problems with nero with the (NEC AD7170S Serial ATA 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Silver) - OEM)

I tried infrarecorder instead and it worked a charm, so I've switched to that. However, I'd be curious is anyone has ideas on what might cause nero to fail anyway...

infrarecorder seems to be working and it looks and feels better than nero... if this works then i will be switching to it too :)

I had this problem on my DS4 when with a pioneer writer. I unistalled the jmicron drivers and windows put the standard microsoft ones on and all was working again. So its probably drivers.

Have you tried downloading the latest version of Nero? It usually manage to fix glitches with certain recorders.
