Hey,

I am clearing out my study.... to make room for an incoming female little monkey (baby girl, just incase you were confused)

I have a ton of DVD's stored in there and wanted to know the best way to get them onto a hard drive that I can then play through TVersity onto my PS3.

What FREE programs are good for this and
A) What size does it move them over as.
B) How long will it take each DVD to put on.

Thanks

Lee

a) Entirely depends on your encoding settings, anything from a few 100MB to a few GB
b) Depends on length of MOVIE/Size of data, how good your CPU for the encoding process and the software you choose

As for what software, will let someone else make a suggestion based on your TVersity requirement as I have never used it and unable to comment on best formats/bit-rates etc.

Some key points for thought though:

Do you want to retain multi-channel audio?
What about subtitles, will you require them on any of your rips?

THanks for the quick reply!

Multic-hannel - not really, unless it's easy and doesn't take much space/time (providing TVersity manages it).

Subtitles - not needed.

MKV?

I'm afraid I don't know what that it.

Ideally I want these at around 700meg or so. I'm not sure what a DVD usually is.
