dvd's wont play

Help, i cant seam to play dvd's on my computer, no matter what software (power dvd, TheaterTek DVD, Media Player 10 ) i use they just wont play as soon as i press play they stop.

i can play divx etc from the hdd, and i can also play mpeg from the hdd, i know its not the dvd rom as i have swapped it and it still does the same.

i have a ait 9550 graphics card running the 8.203 drivers

any ideas?

Dont suppose you could give a whole system spec including what version of Windows your are running?

hi, my system is a:

2800 amd 64bit cpu
on a gigabyte mobo
with an ati 9550 gcard
512mb ram
asus dvd rom

running xp pro sp2 ( with all the latest updates )

it was working but has now stopped.

Is it to do with DVD region locking by any chance. I'm guessing that the mpeg2 on your hard drive is region free. Is your DVD drive locked to a different region than the DVD software player? Or the DVD disc?

use Media Player Classic, ffdshow, ac3 filter

should be able to play most things then
