So I have a shiny new 19" Hanns G TFT to set up when I get home, and it has both DVI and analog inputs.

I have a standard vga cable, but I also have a DVI-A (DVI to analog) cable.

Both my gfx card and monitor have DVI and analog connections, so would I see any improvement in quality by using the DVI-A cable?

If you compare the signal sent across VGA to DVI-A, it should be identical. It can be hard to tell the difference between VGA and DVI-D. Plus the DVI input on the monitor may be only DVI-D (check for 4 pins around the flat blade in the connector, no pins = DVI-D, pins = DVI-A or I).
