Hi guys i bought a DVI cable off auction site and works well (in black, matches monitor) but it does not have all the pins. I noticed its a DVI-D there is also DVI-I, wats the difference and if mine as less pins does that mean its not fully using the cable? e.g like the scart cable not using RGB lol

cheers

DVI-D = digital only
DVI-A = analog only
DVI-I = digital & analog

DVI-D and DVI-I both have single and dual modes - the dual links use twice the number of pins, they are a Y shaped cable to go to 2 monitors.

The dual link is for hooking up 2 monitors to one video output, so no, although very large monitors I believe have dual inputs because the resolution is too high for just a single DVI link.

Edit: The Wikipedia Article on DVI connectors explains about the different types of connectors if you want to know more about them :)
