What, if any difference is there in image quality or performance between connecting gpu & monitor via dvi cable or mini port display cable?

Cards are sli 970' & a Samsung 1440p PLS monitor.
Currently using dvi but just wondering if display port would make any difference.

No difference in image quality - performance wise probably no difference either unless the monitor does something strange with dual link DVI connections...

You would also get the benefit of audio potentially via display port if card/monitor supports it.

DP standard is the newer of the two with neater cables and more compact connectors so good from a tidyness aspect too. :D

Both are digital links, no difference in quality as stated above.

DP supports more things (higher colour depth, 4k 60hz, etc) but unless you have a monitor that needs that it will make no difference to you (You'd know about it if you had a monitor with higher than 8bit colour depth).

DP is newer and tidier. MiniDP doesn't latch as securely as DP or DVI.
