DVI Cables.

Now, i'm not being completely ignorant. But is there a difference between some dvi cables? i.e. the shape of their connectors?

I'm not talking about male/female. But I have one very nice black dvi cable with white ends that came with an LG monitor, and then a cheapo grey one that i bought from a shop. The nice one fits both my tfts and my graphics cards, while the grey one doesn't fit anything.

There is DVI-D and DVI-I. DVI-D is pure digital and is a slightly different style fitting to the DVI-I which is analog and digital. Note the extra pins on the right hand side of the bottom one in the picture:

Other than that you can also get DVI cables with and without a ferrite core, which looks like a small cylinder attached to the ends of the cable. This reduces electromagnetic interference and massively reduces the chances of ghosting on the cable. On the pic it's the cyclinder thing below the connector on the wire.

Think the nicer belkin lookalike cable has a 'ferrite core' dvi-i (which corresponds with my 88gts etc), and the other is a skanky dvi-d.
