Hi all,

Im abit confused with DVI ports.

I currently have This Monitor

In a couple of weeks i want to add another for use with my 5850.

is it a simple case of using each of the DVI ports on the graphics card, and plugging them straight into each monitor ?

the different lay out of DVI ports is whats confusing me.. dual link, single port etc.

Dual-Link DVI means it has more pins (and thus more bandwidth) to enable higher resolutions, like 2560x1440 and 2560x1600. But with 1920x1080, single-link DVI is enough. -- And just in case: when you see DVI-D, the latter D means digital, not dual. There are single-link DVI-D and dual-link DVI-D. Either one works with 1920x1080.

And all the DVIs are "single port". If there are two ports, it just means you can connect two monitors. I don't think it's even possible to use two ports to feed a signal for one monitor.

Your GPU most probably has dual-link DVI-D or dual-link DVI-I connectors. Both should be fine.
