Hi guys,

Got an Iiyama Prolite E438S which I am using as a secondary display and also for my Xbox 360. Currently using VGA of whcih it has only one connector so I have to physically disconnect the PC to connect the 360 VGA adaptor which is tiresome.

So I've tried to fit a VGA>DVI dongle to the DVI Port on the monitor so I can have both plugged in, but without success.

It doesn't fit. It would appear that I can't get the metal part of the connector (i have tried 2 different ones) over the metal part of the port on the back of the monitor. It almost seems as if the port on the monitor is a slightly different shape.

What gives here?

That DVI-VGA dongle is designed to go on the gfx card, not the screen. The card outputs are DVI-I and carry analog VGA signals as well as the digital, for this it has extra pins. The monitor only wants digital signals so the analog signal pins do not have holes to go into, and the monitor wouldn't use the signals anyway.
