Hi all, got a bit of a problem and I was wondering if anyone could help.

Recently I sold a graphics card on the MM. The buyer received it today and has emailed me to say that one of the DVI connectors doesn't work. Now, I tested it before I sent it and whilst it could have been unlucky and got damaged, I want to try and get it working if I can before I think about a refund.

I think it might be something to do with the type of cable or screen, as the card itself supports the following:

Video Output Function

DisplayPort x 1
Dual-Link DVI-I x 1
Signal-Link DVI-D x1
HDMI x 1

The buyer says that the DP, HDMI, and other DVI all work fine.

So, people of the monitors forum, how exactly does DVI work? Is there a connector/monitor combination that will cause the Single-Link DVI-D to spaz out, or is it all compatible with one another?

Thanks in advance.

I assume this is the MSI HD 6850?

What's he trying to connect to the DVI-D connector?

It's a digital output only so if he were trying to use a DVI to VGA adapter it wouldn't work as only the DVI-I connector provides an analog signal.

Also the DVI-D connector is only single link so isn't suitable for resolutions higher than 1920x1200.

The final thing I can think of is that if he's trying to connect 3 monitors then one has to run from the DisplyPort so you can't use the DVI-I, DVI-D and HDMI connectors all at the same time.

Other than the above the DVI-D should work in the same way as the DVI-I.
