DVI-D Connection

Can anyone tell me if DVI-D monitor connections can only fit DVI-D Graphic Card Connections or will they also fit other types?
I have a shiny new Dell Ultrasharp U2311H Monitor with a DVI-D connection and now need to find a suitable graphics card for Photoshop, photography & general office work with DirectX 11 compatibility, thanks.

IIRC a DVI-I socket will take all manner of DVI connections.

Most graphics cards come with DVI-I (so it has both the DVI-D pins, and the pins available for analogue signals needed by DVI-VGA adapters).
