I've just got a HDMI cable to replace the DVI cable I had but when I use HDMI cable it gives me a black border around the screen that the DVI cable didn't have.

I've got a 24" screen but it seems like the new HDMI cable doesn't fill the whole screen. How can I fix it?

....I thought HDMI would be a better cable for HD...am I wrong?

Wrong.

HDMI is the same video signal as DVI with additional pins for audio and CEC control signals. It adds value for things like Blu-Ray players, but not for PCs unless you are plugging it into a TV or projector.

Try checking the overscan settings if you persist in using HDMI.

As above, this is an Overscan issue.

Open Catalyst Control Centre. Navigate to ‘My Digital Flat Panels’ – ‘Scaling Options’ and move the slider to ‘Overscan (0%)’ or all the way to the right.

Yeah that worked but the screen doesn't seem as crisp...might just go back to my DVI cable.
