DVI - HDMI problem

Hey guys, after my last post, I finally finished the project, the PC is built and running, albeit with a few problems.

I'm having trouble sorting out the connection from TV to PC. Here's the deal... I'm using an LG22LS4R and an XFX GTX 260 GPU. The 260 uses DVI and the LG has HDMI. So I put 2 and 2 together and assumed that buying a DVI to HDMI cable would work fine. After connecting the two, everything was fine up until the login screen (i'm using Windows 7 64 btw), when the screen cut out and I was given the 'no signal' message, which appears when nothing is connected.

I borrowed a VGA cable and managed to connect the two using the DVI adapter, and by going through that, the PC thought there were two monitors. I managed to change the resolution on the HDMI connection and when changing the TV's source back to HDMI, I could actually see the desktop, although it was in poor quality and there was some audio feedback. I've tried changing it to different resolutions with no luck. Is there any way I can sort this out?

Help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you not get a DVI to HDMI dongle with the card?

Have you tried connecting using each of the outputs. Sometimes you will get a mirrored output on both DVI until the Windows desktop kicks in. At which time the output deemed as secondary may cut out if it's not been setup in the driver panel.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately it only came with a VGA adapter. After much messing about with resolutions, I managed to get it to the right resolution, but only when setting it as the primary and hooking it up to another monitor (using the DVI/VGA adapter), going through the settings on the Nvidia software. Removal of the second monitor causes the TV to go blank, the same happens when I uncheck the secondary monitor in the Nvidia software. Just getting more and more confused, it's driving me up the wall!
