DVI > HDMI

Will I be able to connect my computer to my tv via a DVI > HDMI cable and put the sound through a 3.5mm jack?

Yea I'm just looking to play sound through the tv speakers.

Chris, HDMI carries sound signal as well as the video so you could do away with extra speakers and use the monitor's, but external speakers will probably be better quality.

Well, I've tried HDMI to HDMI through my 5850 and can still run sound through my computer speakers if I want to. I imagine I can do the same with my 4870 in the other system, but until I get the DVI to HDMI cable I can't test that.

Anybody have any experience with this?

You 100% about that Orc? I didn't think DVI could carry sound at all.
