My Gericom T920 TFT has been doing sterling service for me for some time, but I rebuilt my SLi PC recently and now the DVI input has stopped working.

I have tried different video cards (known good with other DVI monitors) and also swapped out the cable.

The VGA input still works, but I wonder if I could have done anything to fritz the DVI input just by plugging it into the PC? I have had a bit of search about on google and it seems to come back to EDID. This just seems to be a file in the monitor that tells the plug'n'play what it is.

Is there anything else I can check before I go get another monitor?

Not that I can think of that definately sounds faulty, and plugging it in wouldn't kill the dvi input

Yeah, that's what I thought too. back to Aldi then - it'll be interesting to see how they handle a warranty issue!

I have tried changing anything and everything. I'll get the manual tomorrow and try a 'reset to factory defaults' and if that fixes it.

static trapped in the cable maybe??? or your monitor might be having trouble processing a pure digital signal... try changing refresh and resolution...
I'm pretty certail cables wouldn't hold static (can anyone confirm), also dvi is supposed to be digital so if the monitor can't take it, it's faulty.

I had this problem with an LG TFT (albeit not using SLi) and it turned out no matter what computer I used the DVI port wouldn't work (after 2 years of it being fine) got it swapped out under warranty and it has worked fine since. :)

Well, I took it back to Aldi today and I have to say I am massively impressed. They listened to my story then inspected the receipt, then they got a manager who nipped off to the middle of the store and brought back a 20" widescreen. The manager asked 'As I don't have any square ones, will this do as a replacement? It's the same price!' I didn't think about it for too long :D
