DVI Issues - No Signal

OK bare with me on this one guys, when I connect my secondary monitor (24" ocuk value effort) to my gtx280 via dvi I get no signal, however, the monitor works fine via dvi when connected to a second pc, and it doesn't have any issues when connected to my laptop or xbox either, using a dvi-hdmi cable.

It can't be the card at fault because it works fine when connected to my tv via dvi, and yesterday I tested a 4870 in the same pc, and the same problem occurred, but worse, with the 4870 installed the monitor works fine over vga, just like the gtx280 does, but as soon as I go to plug in the dvi lead, the pc reboots before the connectors are even touching!

I've tried a new dvi lead, plus a dvi-hdmi lead as well as a new kettle/power lead, I've also tested the x300se card out of the other computer, and I've underclocked my pc just incase any of the oc'd components were causing the problem, but all to no avail.

The only thing I've changed since the monitor last worked fine with this pc is the motherboard, but I can't see that being the issue, or could it?

Everything works fine over vga so the problem isn't that great a deal since I still use a crt for most things on this pc, it'd still be nice to get it sorted though.

Any ideas what it could be? The only thing I can think of is the motherboard but I'm not sure if that's even possible. :)
