DVI not working in Windows

Hey guys,
I recently got a new computer and Vista. After installing all the parts etc, I installed Vista and everything worked a treat. However, upon releasing I had used VGA rather than DVI, I changed the cable to DVI and booted up the computer. The bios screen loads, the loading bar for windows does as well. But once that is the done (i.e. before windows actually displays desktop/logon screen), my screen says 'no signal' and I have to change over to VGA to get it to display.

When I tried uninstalling my drivers (Cats. 7.8), the DVI connection worked in Windows but once I installed the actual driver, it stopped working. The display is an Acer AL1916W and my pc specs are below. Any help would be much appreciated :)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 | Sapphire X1950PRO | ABIT IP35-E | 2 gig DDR667 | 160gig SATA WD | 500w Antec TruePower 2.0 HE | Silverstone LC17

Cheers Fullo
