Ok this might be a bit of a noob question but what's the best connector to plug into? I have a 290 pro on its way, had a 280 before that died.

The 280 looked like crap through the hdmi connector on my samsung 24" monitor so I just plugged it into the divi connector. I expect I should try and work out how to get it to play nice on the hdmi with the new card, wil true audio only work on hdmi? Will dvi be ok?

I did have a quick fiddle with the monitor settings on the 280 but couldn't find any settings that looked as good as through the dvi connector.

Does your monitor have inbuilt speakers which work over HDMI (some monitors require a separate cable from the sound card) Image quality should be the same for both as they are both digital signals.

No built in speakers on it. It's a syncmaster p2450. I was just a bit worried that I'd be loosing out not going through the hdmi connector?

Its digital so the end result will be the same. HDMI can carry audio and ethernet also but as you can't really use them with a monitor you are not going to miss anything ;D
