Just wondering if someone can help me with what I need....

I have 3x27" monitors (Eyefinity), I also have a 30" Dell.
If I'm using the Eyefinity, I want to keep the 3 identical monitors together, but for games where I may not want to use the 3 monitors I'd like to find a method of easily using my 30" monitor instead (higher resolution and better quality). The idea being that this monitor would also be connected (but switched off) and simply placed in front of the centre monitor when I need it.

I've seen some splitter cables, but not sure if they would work, ideally I'd prefer some kind of switch so that the graphics card doesn't know its present until I need it.

Anyone got something similar or have any ideas?

Many thanks for reading. :)

Hi there, may I ask what the resolutions of the 27in monitors are?

If they are 2560x1440 then you could run all four monitors in a configuration AMD call "3x1 Display Group Plus 1 Extended" - shown here.

Either run the 30in as a centre monitor and set pixels mapping to 1:1 (so it also runs at 2560x1440 instead of 1600) or put it on the top. If you decide to go down this road - you will be needing a stand and eyefinity graphics card with 4 outputs (or one of those DP extender boxes).

1920x1200 unfortunately!

I have 2 HD 6950's, so I have the following configuration:
MiniDP adapter to 27" DVI monitor
MiniDP adapter to 27" DVI monitor
DVI to 27" DVI monitor

I have one more port available which is a DVI dual link (required for 2560x1600 Dell).

Ah, never mind then.

As for switching between the two configurations, isn't there an option in the catalyst control centre to select which displays are used?
