Is It possible to get a DVI to HDMI connection cable to allow me to do this ?

thanks for the reply. :)
are there any known issues at all with these cables?
ie- same quality picture with a DVI to DVI standard cable ??

I have one, but tbh with my TV (Samsung LE32R73BDX) the VGA is better...VGA is 1:1 pixel mapped (at 1360x768) whilst the HDMI is 720p overscanned. The VGA is super crisp and properly calibrated (automatically), so you may want to reserve the HDMI for a HD-DVD player or PS3, etc (depending on what TV you have/are getting).

I'm looking at some Samsung HD ready tv's 23" - 26" (bedroom).
DVI or HDMI input for PC
VGA input for Xbox360 as it upscales DVD films to near HD resolutions.

HDMI to DVI-D Gold Plated 1.5m Cable
£13.00

so this cable would plug into my graphics card via the dvi connection and to my tv with the HDMI input.

i need to check before i blow £600 on a tv for my room lol.

im still none the wiser.
can you connect a pc to the HDMI slot on the back of a HDTV ?
providing you have DVI out on your graphics card of course.

anyone ??

Yes, HDMI is DVI+TOSLink...of course the graphics card doesn't make any sound.
so what you want is a cable which will take from dvi and from 3.5mm output on soundcard :) this would be nice

The confusion comes because some screens have HDMI ports which are only formatted for TV use, and TV inputs have slight underscanning, so they overscan on PC inputs (such as the aforementioned Samsung, and that crappy Baier screen they sell in Asda).

You are unlucky if you have this, but I think you can tweak this anyway in ATi TrayTools or PowerStrip.

Any decent set will accept a PC input fine though. I have my PC connected to my TV (LG 26LX2R) using as DVI-HDMI cable, 1360x768 goodness :)
