Basically as thread says i only on a x1800xt atm and want to connect too my 37" lcd tv via hdmi to use as pc screen and also play hd from the 360 hd player( if it will work), my tv aint got vga in before anyone asks, i seen a dvi-hdm cable but i also seen ones that say dvi-d to hdmi any input be sweet.

I think DVI-D ones are "Digital" only so you cant put a VGA convertor on the end of the DVI connector to plug it in to a VGA port on your graphics card.

All DVI to HDMI cables are DVI-D only. There is no analogue signal on an HDMI connector, so it would not work. Almost all graphics card DVI ports output DVI-I (Integrated) which contains both DVI-D (Digital) and DVI-A (Analog).

You can get VGA (and hence DVI-A) to HDMI converters, but these are vastly expensive and not a cable. Don't get one of these :).

You can also get VGA/DVI-A to Component cables reasonabley cheaply, which should also give you an excellent picture.

google 'dvi to hdmi converter'. Click on the top 'shopping results link', there are converters ranging from £5 to £200. There are both male and female hdmi leads...

I think thats what your looking for, if i read your post right.

Do you mean the converter that comes standard with most modern graphics cards?

As I read it you want to covert the dvi output of your x1800xt to the hdmi plug on your tv.

You need a dvi to hdmi cable and a good quality one. XtremeMac stuff is rock solid quality.

Just google that product on the famous river.

I got a cable for just over £5 works a treat on the pc but i can't play hd dvd's from the 360 player via the pc to the tv, but works fine with in plugged upto the xbox 360.

I wanted to keep the hd dvd player and sell the 360 you see, any ideas why.
