DVI - VGA Adapter Quality

Guys,

Am I right in saying that if I I'm using the above to link my monitor to my graphics, I could be suffering from a reduction in quality?
I had what I thought was the right cable but it appears to be a DVI-A cable which won't plug into the back on my screen because of the four extra pins that surround the flat 'blade' pin.
If thats the case, can someone point me in the right direction of a cable for sensible money.

If the picture quality looks OK why change? I don't think you'll notice a big difference unless your current setup is causing problems.
