SOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Just ordered myself a DVI-HDMI cable, didnt realise they could be DVI(monitor) to HDMI(console) and be used for DVI(PC) to HDMI(TV) .. at first I was trying to figure which were display HDMI and which were not :)

Anyways.. Just wondering as I dont have a DVI on my laptop, only a VGA(the vostro 1500s only downfall) can I get a VGA to DVI, then use a DVI to HDMI cable in my HD LCD TV? As its easier moving the laptop to plug it into TV than my PC.
Before anyone asks yes the TV does have VGA, but it doesnt support max res over VGA, only a few odd widescreen resolutions and 1280x1024(which is actually scaled very well, but its still not good enough)

if theres a VGA-HDMI converter then surely theres a VGA-DVI. Ba forgot about the dongels, thats probably what i saw but im tired so meh.

Bit annoying that the laptop only has a VGA like.

also you could try setting up a custom resolution in nvidia control panel advanced settings with vga

monitor doesnt support the 720p res on 1 TV, the other one only supports 1280x1024 max on VGA

what you can do if both your HDtv and your gfx card supports it is use Y,Pb,Pr instead of HDMI this analogue format can be use to trasmit HD content.

Yea the TVs support it, but im fairly sure the 8600m GT on my vostro doesnt have this function?

urmm ones a toshiba which is a decent 37" one, the other is an erm... I cant even remember now, its a known brand, ahh hitatchi, its one of the cheapest 42" 1080p sets around, its reviews say its top notch in its full HD glory, but since its cheap it skimps on other things which means SD etc look .. poo.
