I've now moved but haven’t updated the DVLA with my new address. Now I’m currently on 7 points but all come off in May 2007 so if I request my address of address then will the points still be on my paper copy?

Assuming so.. you will have to send them both off and they will reprint it with your points.. because they always stay on there afaik

New licences will remove any points, restrictions, entitlements when they expire. So if you wait till may, you should get a clean one back.

I think it may be an offense to knowingly drive with an license that holds incorrect details?

For example if you get a producer and they find that your license isnt correct ( old address ) you can get done for it. Fine of 1k or something?

I got some bumpf when i got the reciept for mine from the post office when i changed my address. If you get a producer and cant either show a valid correct license OR this special reciept you are in trouble or something.
The excuse "ive just moved and havnt got round to changing it yet" is no defense. So if you cant prove that you have actually sent it off then you get fined ( i think it was a grand ) or something like that.

Of course this is only a problem should you get a producer. Im sure i read somewhere that someone had this happen so sent his license off the next day and went to the copshop and thought he would be ok.
They contacted the DVLA and did some research and because he had moved 3 months before they did him for driving with no license and also therefore no insurance. An incorrectly detailed license is classed as being void apparently so even though you have one, its worthless as its incorrectly detailed etc.

The police round here stop you for next to nothing and dish out producers like candybars... :D

I'm in the above situation. Moved in October 06, Licence still shows my parents address.

But then again, I'm still on the electoral roll there, half my bank accounts and credit cards still have my parents address, and my mobile phone bill goes there.

What's to stop me saying that is actually my current address.

I've lived in 5 different places in 4 years. The only place to remain constant is my parents address... changing every little thing every 9 or 10 months is just too much hassel and I don't see myself actually getting everything properly sorted until I move into a house of my own.

Your right, but the police didn't even bat an eye lid when I got 3 points on mine.

I'm similar to you actually and have been wondering about this. I must have had 4 - 5 different addresses in past 4 years through uni - My company is even registered at my folks address so I see no real need to change.

as long as you've got access to any post that is sent through to you at your registered address, you should be OK. They like to know that they can contact you if necessary or to send you summons etc.

Aren't all summonses sent to the address on the vehicle details though? I've had the wrong address on my licence since 1997 and I've never had any problem receiving any letters based on driving offences. I've moved about 7 times since living at the address on my licence, including 2 different countries. ;)

I think as long as your V5 is current then you'll be fine.

DVLA are a bunch of useless idiots..

I have been trying to register a car as scrapped for 18 months...

I have written numerous letters, yet they still insist on showing the car as unlicenced..
Just be careful when you change your address, keep copies of your licence and all entitlements..

Otherwise you could fine when you get it back it has HGV and PSV entitlement instead of what you're supposed to have..

Your insurance? :)

Guessing it you get a producer and you've got diff addresses on the docs they might ask questions. I know that it's perfectly viable where you keep the car could be different, but for the majority it isn't so might cause them to ask.

I had this a while ago, I'd been at uni, got back home and how to show my docs for something, but while I was away my folks had moved. They said in the station technically they should do something about it but didn't, just told me to get it changed asap.

If they weren't so backwards and would allow me to change it online then I'd have done it the minute I moved, along with everything else.

True, although all it takes is a few squiggles on the paper and then pop it in the post :)
