I sold my Vectra back on the 15h of january.

It was part exchanged with the dealer, but ive still not had my letter from the DVLA come through to say i'm no longer responsible for it.

ive got the V5 for my new car through ages ago, so they sent the V5 for the volvo off.

Should the V5 for the VXR have been sent off too ? or does that wait till it gets a new owner ?

did you not send it off?

the dealer took the V5 when i P/X'd it.

I signed and dated the bit saying i no longer own the car at the bottom however.

I was under the impression you give them a tear off slip and then you send the remainder of the document to the DVLA. The bit the other person takes varies in your case it would have been the yellow section which is for sale to Motor Trade, Dismantler etc.

i assumed they'd do that bit and send it off at the same time they sent off the V5 for the volvo.

Its a reputable garage that i part exchanged with so i'll obviously need to give them a ring and chase it up.

Maybe they dont want to take it into their name, as it will be down as another owner?

They might wait until someone buys it and get them to fill in the new owner bit.

This^^ is what happened with me recently when I bought from a garage, the previous owner was listed as a bloke from huddersfield and the garage was in barnsley :)

they can register it as being in the trade without it showing up as an owner though surely ?

Just sold my old car to someone in the trade.

He took away the whole V5 with my signature on minus the yeloow slip (part 9) which had his details on, signature etc. Copied and photographed it before sending it of to DOOVLA.

I got mine about a month and a half after selling me car DVLA certainly aren't the quickest even more so when your getting a tax disk refund
