I know this probably isn't the prevailing experience with the DVLA and finding them efficient* but recently after a reminder from them I had to renew my photocard driving licence, decided to do so online and to my rather pleasant surprise received a replacement in 3 days. Admittedly it was helped because they could use the electronically stored photograph that I had previously supplied with a passport application but I was still fairly impressed with that speed of response.
It probably says quite a lot that I'm surprised enough about this to make a topic on it but I feel it's worth giving recognition where it's due. In case anyone is going to say I should be telling them rather than posting here, I did write a short letter to commend them on the service which I sent back along with my old driving licence.
*They have always been pretty slow at updating the V5C for me for instance.
