I'm new to this country. I brought a car last year (Jan 2022), however I didn't know I have to apply for a V5C document.
Dealer told me that I need not do anything else, unfortunately he didn't apply for a V5C.
Immediately when I released this, I've applied to DVLA with my green slip (V5C/2) and V62 filled form.

It's been 2 weeks now since I applied it, I know I should wait for 4 weeks in total.

I was able to tax and insure my car with green slip for this year also, I don't know how that is possible.
I've my receipt and bank transfer details of the purchase.

Anyone got any suggestions on what to expect next and anything else that I should take care of.

The person or business selling you the vehicle should notify the DVLA (by post or online) of a change of ownership, which will transfer the V5C to your name for free - you do not (normally) have to do anything else. You are provided the green slip as a temporary proof that you're the registered keeper and enabling you to tax the vehicle.

A new V5C should be sent in the post to the name and address given - for info, last week I bought a vehicle and received the new V5C within one week. If the previous owner did not notify the DVLA (or it got lost), you can be left without the V5C. In this case, you can apply for a new V5C but you have to pay a fee.

Sounds like you've done the right thing here, sometimes the previous owner or garage can mess up.

If youve sent the required forms off, just waiting game now, they can be pretty slow, so id probably give it another 2-4 weeks before even raising an eyebrow to chase it up.

we had 2 vehicles from same garage st the same time our log book took 4 weeks and the daughters took 2 months go figure :(
