I went in about 3 weeks ago to my DVLA local office to start the process of getting my plates onto retention so I can sell my car.

I today got the reprinted MOT and Tax disc back with the cars original registration on it, and accompanying this was a letter I should receive the V5 back within 4 to 8 weeks.

I was under the impression the whole lot should take around 3 weeks. Am I really going to have to wait up to 8 more weeks to get the V5 back?

Has anyone done this recently and can give me an idea of the time frame the process took for them?

Bought new car, got V5 in about 10 days, transfered my cherished plates from old car to new car, 1 week to get the new tax disks, and the tearoffs from my old V5's, and new printed MOTs (I suspect the 1week turn around was because I delivered and collected the documents from a DVLA local office), and then about another 5 days after that for the 2 full V5's to return from DVLA swansea.

So all in all, around 10 days turn around on a V5 as long as there are no complications.

Then sold the old car, and the new owner got his V5 within 10 days as well. Generally it seems pretty fast, and im in rural herefordshire where everyone's relaxed about everything :P
