DVXA stopped working with Catalyst 9.1

I've been happily using MPC Home Cinema with CoreAVC to play 720p/1080p mkv files and getting video acceleration from the DVXA support in MPC-HC.

But since updating to Catalyst 9.1 drivers all these files don't play anymore and I just get a black screen in MPC-HC. If I turn off the "H264/AVC (DVXA)" filter MPC-HC it plays the files but obviously I'm no longer getting video acceleration.

I'm using WinXP SP3, CoreAVC (1.8.5) with HD4870 and Cat 9.1 drivers.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Depending on the CPU, I bet your actually using less electricity using the cpu.

30% load on a e8400 would be nothing compared to having the hd 4870 shift to uvd clocks.

Playback without DVXA is not an issue since, I'm using CoreAVC which is multithreaded and on my Q9550 I get around 15% cpu utilisation on 1080p files.

... but that's not the issue, if it was working before with 8.12 drivers, why isn't it working anymore?

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm using 9.1 and no problems in DXVA with MPC cinema.

Vista64 SP1, upgraded from 8.12 > 9.1

edit: Info just for comparison, so you know it's not necc something insurmountable.

It may be XP problem then. I will probably revert to 8.12 drivers to check if it is indeed the drivers.

That said, I'm not sure if I should, 1080p video runs perfectly fine without GPU acceleration.
