Had this a few month back, basically games crash either on the title menu or just as the game starts, so and so has stopped working, DX9 games run fine. Last time I couldn't sort it so OS reinstall was needed to correct it, any suggestion on a fix and what the problem maybe is much appreciated.

Yeah done all the obvious stuff like driver and DX reinstalls, real pain, going to work on it today if no joy an OS reinstall it is.

roll back drivers
put everything back to stock

When you had the problem a few months back what did you try?
Obviously if an OS install fixes the problem its probably not GFX/ CPU but I have seen this before with a HDD that is starting to fail. If it's not that then it must be software i.e. drivers or buggered OS/ dodgy MS patch.

I had this with a core 216 260 a few years ago, would freeze up on crysis title, lfs, and a few other too
Turned out to be broken VRAM

How would an OS install (which fixed problem last time) fix broken VRAM. Assuming this is the same issue.

Os install didn't fix and never would obviously
What I was saying is that I had same issue of crashing, but turned out to be faulty card

Sorted it, tried CPU at stock from 4Ghz, games then ran, which is strange because I've had that clock on for ages, anything I tried again at 4GHz and it would not work, more volts, lower ram ratio it still crashed. So decided to push the multi up to 21 and clock speed was at 4.2Ghz, bloody thing works.

Had a similar thing with BC2, was crashing to desktop with CPU @ 3.5Ghz which I had turned it down to when it was warmer. Went back to a 3.7Ghz OC (with same voltage as 3.5) and it was fine.
Good to hear you've got it sorted.
