Hello,
When trying to start Human Head demo or Froggy my PC will BSOD with the message "video memory fatal error encountered" or something, the smoke and cascades demos worked, but the lag was immense. It's Vista, and i've 1GB of RAM... for now. Also is an average FPS of 30+ on CoD2 with everything maxed on 1280x1024 with an 8800GTS 320mb good?
Thanks

The Human head demo is designed to run on the Ultra card, which has 768mb of video memory on it. Try lowering the multisample in the options to combat this. Select the lowest.

The frog demo works on mine fine, although I am on XP Home with 2Gb of Ram. Havent installed it in Vista yet.

Get another Gig of ram for vista. You will notice a Big difference. ;)

What CPU are you using? The 8800s really need a C2D to run at their full potential.

Some standard questions:

Did you have an ATi card installed previously, and did you use Driver Cleaner to get rid of them?

Are you using the latest video drivers, and have you tried other drivers?

Is the PSU powerful enough, and the 6-pin connector is connected?

Are the chipset drivers installed?

You could try running 3DMk06 and post the scores here (SM2, SM3, and CPU).

I did have an ATi card installed previously, however i have since reformatted and reinstalled Vista with the 8800GTS already in, so the drivers would have been fresh nVidia. The PCI-E 6 pin is connected, and the PSU is 550w with 36a 12V rails. And 3DMARK06 score was around the 8k mark i think.

bear in mind that if you have vsync turned on in CoD2 and your framerate drops below 60, it'll likely drop straight down to around 30 rather than settling at 40-50. Try ensuring that vsync is turned off just to see if there is any improvement.
