DX10 Compatible Cards?

Not really. 9 months till December which is when Vista will probably rear its head. Most of the most recent cards will run DX10 and default to DX9 (or so my graphics card box says). And when DX10 games fully require DX10, then you'll need a new card which will probably be about 1 year away. Say spring next year is when we'll need new cards, by which time R600 and G80 will be out to fill this void and possibly R700 or G90.

I dunno, if your system is capable of playing the games you want so far I would hold of for DX10 cards especially if you dont upgrade very often. Its only a few months, June i think, before we start seeing the cards.

By holding of it will future proof your pc a little longer, if there is such a thing ;)

Personally im holding of for dx10, my system handles most games quite well, considering its near 2 years old.

Yeah id hold off to, not like DX10 games will come flooding out when DX10 cards arrive, may be lucky and get one by christmas 2007. :D

Heelo all,

I want to upgrade my whole system, the only thing putting me off is DX10, is it worth waiting for compatible g.cards?

Rich

The G80 is supposedly released in the June-July timeframe. That will be the first DX10 card.

Worth the wait unless you are desparate. AT the least wait a bit for the 7900s to drop in price (a week or should do it).

Dont the new nvidias support DX10 as they have been built for windows vist and vista will surly have DX10

hehe nope.

my x1800XT says on its sapphire box supported os`s and windows vista is named there also hehehe

though this card will like someone said above run dx10 but will be under a emulation of sorts and default it to dx9 under the os :P
all os features will be there though apart from the dx10 features in games.

still the graphics card i have will keep me alive untill nov/december at the end of this year then i will upgrade to ati`s new dx10 card, as no way im going for a Nvidia dx10 hybrid card lol * who the hell wants a hybrid :o*

Why don't you guys just hold until Dx11 or Dx12? And also Windows Vista Pro?

Due to the fact that you will be waiting years, DX10 cards is only 3 months away :P

Whilst DX10 itself is at least 8 months away. It wouldnt be me buying a DX10 card in 3 months time when the software for it wont be released for 6 months after the card. At the rate the cards are released your likely to see a couple of improved cards released in that time. I'll be waiting for 2-3 months after DX10 is released before buying a DX10 card.

Zeph.

thing is, its not just dx10, the new cards will obviously have more power without the aid of dx10.
If your like me and dont upgrade very often waiting 3 months to get a dx10 card which will be future proofed ( kinda ) for months since the DX software isnt availible.

IMO
If you upgrade yearly dont bother waiting...
If you upgrade every 2+ years then wait

tbh

I reckon G80 will be G90 by the time DX10 is released and nV are playing on marketing of Vista to sell lots of cards which will no doubt be EOL by Jan '07.
