Dx10 for vista

k i have vista64 ,
just installed it an i am hunting down 64bit drivers an stuff for my Pc

i`ve being looking for a updates for dx10 but everytime i search my browser all i get is the MS site with dx9c updates poping up ..

dosen`t MS separate it`s dx9 from its dx10 updates ? , cause i thought dx9c was the last up date for XP an dx10+ was vista only ?

so i suppose iam asking where`s the dx10.1 updates hiding :) or will SP1 on vista have it in it ?

afaik, there are no updates, SP1 will have any..

it's worth running the dx9websetup thing to update your dx9 too mind (for older games)
 
DX9 and DX10 are actually seperate.
Under Vista you will have DX10 and any updates to DX will be installed via SP1 for the OS.
You should also make sure you've got the latest release of DX9 installed too.

So what u`re all saying is i still have to install dx9c "Aug08 latest ver" on top of my dx10 that was installed with Vista64 ??

won`t that over write some of the files for dx10 ?

an isn`t dx10.1 suppose to be out ?

DirectX is just a bunch of libraries so strictly speaking there is no need to overwrite anything. DirectX 9.0c and DirectX 10 can operate side-by-side on the same system and any game that wants to use DX 9.0c can do so.

That isn't to say previous versions of DX don't contain junk that was in um.. previous versions but in this case, DX9 + DX10 does not = broke.
 
They are separate, you are not installing it on top, you won't be overwriting DX10
 
Also, when you are installing DirectX 9.0c as a new install on a Vista system, it is best to download a redistributable version (like you get on game disks), cos some of the update versions only try to update (and can't actually "install" it).

If you just install a game with it on the disk that usually does the same thing :)
