DX10 on XP

It can work but it's just an emulation, it's bad enough on vista let alone on this :P

Who said it's bad on Vista?

It's only bad on partial dx10 games due to being shoddy ports /patches by those game developers to start with but it's perfectly fine on pure dx10 game such as Crysis as has been proven at E3 on the 8800gts/core2duo setups they had.

Who says its good in Vista, as far as im aware the amount of Dx10 games out is a big fat ZERO, plus they aint even got Dx9 performance sorted in Vista yet, and theres absolutely millions of Dx9 games out there as Dx9 has been around for years, so i can't see them having Dx10 performance sorted as soon as that very first Dx10 game gets released, everyones expectations of it are way to high. :)

OT though, you may as well forget about Dx10 in XP, will be around 2fps.

Everyones expectations are way to high for Dx10 performance when that very first game hits imo.

I really don't hope you eat your words because if your wrong about DX10 you'll be eating them through a straw for the immediate future the amount of flaming/bashing you'll recieve :D .

I hope i am wrong, but my opinion is, i can't see it, not if they aint sorted Dx9 performance yet.

If they have Dx10 performance sorted straight of the bat when that very first Dx10 game hits, then ill assume they could have sorted Dx9 performance long ago, but seen as they never bothered sorting it they must be wanting to force everyone who's running a Dx9 card in Vista to get a Dx10 one, as they'll be clearly saying 'we dont give a **** about Dx9 now in Vista, otherwise we would have sorted it long ago'. :)

I am the only one who would find it odd that Dx10 performance would be sorted straight away for that very first Dx10 game, when Dx9 games have been around for years and are still not.

I agree, there is not going to be some 'magic fix' for performance which will turn up out of the blue. Vista has been in retail for 6 months now and I'm sure if there was a magic solution at driver level someone would have found it by now.

Bottom line is the only way to get genuinely good performance (MINIMUM framerate >75fps) is to buy extremely high end hardware and play older games. DX8.1 4tw.
