DX10 timeframe?

Does anyone have any ideas on the timeframe in which DX10 will be released? I wish to buy a computer and will probably get one when the Core2 is released but if the DX10 GPUs are going to be out with Vista in January then i will wait. Anyone got any ideas when DX10 cards will be out and actually worth buying?

well i usually buy new gfx cards every 18 months so a good idea would be to just build a conroe machine and then get a dx10 card 18 months later when they have games for them?

would be nice to upgrade every 12 months but i like to get good stuff like the 7900GT i have now. i cant really afford to upgrade that often i managed to make my last x800XT last just over 18 months before buying this card to tide me over to my next full system upgrade which will be sometime next year.

So do you reckon my 7900GT will last until dx10 cards are out? Or should i get a next series model with a new machine (still dx9). Thing is I have managed to secure about £1500 for a full system upgrade sometime next year and want to use it at a time where im going to get a balance of system longevity without waiting all the time for the next best thing.
is that clear or just babble!?!

Hmm nice. If only they could do something about the lack of HDR and AA support.

This is true, this is one of the main issues i have with this card, since i only play at relatively low res 1280.1024 it would sometimes be nice to use AA with HDR. I would have got ATI except when i bought this card it was the best performance price that i could find

Sir Random: I assume by your recommendation of nforce 590 that i should build an SLI system? Would the performance boost of having a good conroe CPU give my gfx card the boost to get it to last until dx10?
