DX10 worth it yet?

Hi, im doing a first time build this summer, im still unsure about which graphics card to buy. Im building a budget system ~£700-800 so i was wondering if it was worth buying something like an nvidia 8800 GTS/ATI 2600-2900 or getting one of their older DX9 cards and waiting for some better mid-range cards in DX10?

By one of their 'older cards' i mean X1950 or 7950. Would it be worth getting one of those and waiting say, a year, then upgrading to DX10?

I think the general response will be to get the 8800 GTS 320mb as its only about £50 more then an x1950 & wee's all over it.

i would say due to ati's 2900 series vs the GTS's, i would DEFINETLY go for a GTS, 640 version, would be fine.

what resolution will you play at?

Well, im getting a 20" or 22" widescreen monitor, not sure what resolutions they are, ive been using a 19" for the last 4 years
