Sorry ive been away , but has dx10 been released? will it work with my 7900gtx 512mb??

sorry im a bit behind on this...last time ( a couple of months ago ) i checked it was being nov 2006....just wanted to know where i stood with this?

thanks in advance..

cheers!!

no it will not work with the card you have.

and if your running XP then you wont be able to run it.

and for what i Know, its not out i dont think..?

DirectX 10 is out it is part of Vista and has been since release, however apart from some industry demos there is nothing yet released that is using it. I believe that their is soon to be a patch for Company of Heroes that will make use of some elements of DX10, but I can't vouch for that as I read it on another forum.

Yes Dx10 has been released, nothing at all is using it yet though. :)

Also as said above you will need a new card as the 7900 GTX is only Dx9, either Nvidia's 8 series, or ATi's up coming R600, and you will also need a copy of Vista as Dx10 can not be done in XP.

as others have said it is out, but pointless worrying about it atm. tbh its causing me probs at the mo coz i cant run certain games for having the wrong dx version  (i.e splintercell vegas demo)

Yeah, Vista has Direct X 10 in it...aswell has having 9.0c because 10 doesn't have backwards compatability....

8800 Series by nvidia are currently the only cards that support (and R600)

As for Games; Microsoft Flight Simulator X is currently the only game that takes advantage of it.

Have you installed DirectX 9.c?. Even though DX10 is present in Vista I've been told you have to install DX9 for DX9 games.

I've put a 20gb partition on my main HD to try Vista Ultimate and I'm very impressed except for the system hogging dreamscene and others things use. I keep it on though but wish it was less taxing. I hate using antivirus and spyware software as it's always running so I'm just having a moan :D.
