Hi everyone,

Some of you may have seen me asking for advice on a build and a gpu over the past few weeks, but some unfortunate events have occurred and now I may not have quite as much money as I did a few weeks a back to upgrade (should have just upgraded when I had the chance :p).

So my question today for you kind people to help me with is, is dx11 and tessellation (and whatever other bells and whistles that dx11 brings to the table) HUGELY superior to what dx10/10.1 is? I currently have 2 1gb 4870's in crossfire, and they play most things at good framerates and good graphical settings, but obviously they don't support dx11. I had pretty much decided on getting a new windforce 670 but now I'm almost trying to talk myself out of it in order to save some money with my upgrade (for a few months at least), hence the question above :).

I've looked at all the youtube videos attempting to show the difference between the two, but for some reason I think I'm just missing something in them.

Thanks a lot!

I wouldn't upgrade for Dx11 alone. If you're happy with the your two 4870's then I'd leave it for now. :)

That was my real question I guess, basically does dx11 add a hell of a lot of graphical details that I am currently missing out on? But as you say, it probably isn't worth upgrading just to take advantage of dx11.

I went from a 4870X2 to a gtx480, but not for Dx11. I don't think you're missing anything in particular, especially when you bear in mind that Dx9 is still being used.
