heres a dumbass question.....to play in DX11 do you need Windows 7?

ye...i just got a new 5870...but I use Vista 64...so I can use DX11 if i have SP2 without having to install Win 7..yes..if so coool

Run->Type 'dxdiag' and press enter-> Check the 'DirectX Version', should show Directx 11 at the bottom if you've got it..

How come mine says DX11 even though I have a GTX280. Vista 64.

Because you have the Directx 11 code installed, but when it actually comes time to run a game, it'll identify the highest supported version of your card and will only use Directx 10.

It's telling you the highest version you have installed on your machine

Because you have the DX11 update and as such have DX1 installed which is being reported as the latest by dxdiag.
