I am soon to build a custom loop and i have everything except for the tubes ( i am going to use soft tubes 10mm / 13mm ) and a Dye.

I am also going to order de-ionised water, is a cheap one made by CarPlan ok to use, i can get it for £2.50 for 5 litres ?

Would prefer a Dye that doesnt stain the hell out of my acrylic res block ideally.

Also should i use a biocide.

You could go with de-ionised but I only used that for all the flushing of parts. You can get 5 litres of distilled for £12 and some Mayhem's Inhibiter and Hades. They're £8.99 each. You definitely don't want to run it without any biocide in case any nasties get in like a room with a lot of daylight. As well as the possibility of distilled eating away the nickel plating long term without inhibiter. Assuming you're on nickel blocks. Or just go with one of Mayhem's premixed coolants of 1 litre for £10 - £12. Or Aqua Computer's DP Ultra.

The dye wont stain the acrylic. It might over the long term stain the nickel blocks though, 6 months to a year and dependant what it is. Nothing that a toothbrush and toothpaste wont polish up. Perhaps the possibility of it separating/gunking up the microfins. A possibility.

What clear tubing? There is a high possibility they could yellow and plasticiser build up. Then you've lost the colour of the dye externally to the tubes. Most go for Tygon Norprene tubing.

I’ve always preferred using coloured tube and clear fluid, I’ve used deionised water with a silver kill coil quite successfully but those pcs were pretty much always in a dark room, I did try it in a loop with clear tubing and I got some algae build up but only after quite a while.
Mayhems is great stuff, fluid and tube are both excellent.

Mayhems soft tube
Proper distilled water (I got Mayhems Ultra Pure just because it was cheap and bundled with other stuff at the time, but it's overkill)
Mayhems non-stain dye
Mayhems Hades
Mayhems inhibitor

Don't need anything else.
