Dyeing a Hi-Viz?

I picked up a surplus Hi-Viz jacket from work. Nice and warm, removable liner, waterproof, etc.

However, it's not only bright yellow but also liveried and I'm not so keen on wearing this particular company's logo outside of the office.

Is there any way to dye it, maybe black or dark green, without wrecking it?

You'd be better off buying something that fits your requirements rather than nicking company stuff and trying to make it look like your own. ;) :D
I don't *have* to nick it - It's yellow and we're now only allowed to wear the orange stuff.
As a consequence, about 5,000 staff are all now left holding useless yellow kit that the company doesn't want and since mine is a bloody good jacket, I'd like to make use of it... just without being a fluorescent beacon!
I've already been given another by my boss, to wear while on the bike!! :D

basically, no - you wont be able to buy the dyes and you don't have the correct equipment - dyeing would be carried out at high temperature either at the thread or loose fabric stage.
whats it made of?
It's that 100% Polyester PU coated stuff with Scotchlite™ reflective tape.

This is the exact one:

why on earth would you want to wear that in public...
i can understand one for work, but why would you want a died hi-viz jacket?

Because it'd be waterproof and warm. I don't actually own any decent jackets outside of my bike kit and can't really afford anything right now.
The liner can also be worn alone like an MA1, which is cool. I just don't fancy looking like a parking attendant in Hi Viz.

if cash is tight go a army surplus store, can normally pick up fantastic jackets for cheap (they aren't all Camo) but if you have no money then fair play, id just rock Hi-vis would look worse dyed I reckon

It was just the opportunity that had me wondering. I've got some stuff that will cover the logos for my bike one, which will remain Hi-Vis... and probably have people thinking I'm a cop, heh heh!

so if you dyed hi-viz black, for example, you'd probably get a really really dark green.

I'd be fine with dark green, but I think the waterproofing would prevent it anyway, as people have said.

It was a top coat buckshee. That's the only reason I cared, really... probably also why everyone else is just binning theirs!!
