Dying 22" Nvidia surround options?

I'm presently running a BenQ GW2765 (27" 2560x1440 IPS panel) with an old Samsung 226SW 22". The Samsung is dying a death at the moment (flickering when first switched on not displaying anything until manually set) and I was looking at replacing it.

I've got a GTX980 so can push the pixels but I was wondering if maybe buying 2 x 22" monitors and configuring Nvidia surround was option? They're not expensive and would add to the experience (I think!) but I'm not sure if it'll work.

If it can, would any old 22" do? The problem that I can see is the connectors... the GTX980 has 2 x DP, 2 x HDMI and 1 x DVI. Do I just buy 2 monitors with HDMI and stop worrying?

Also, any recommendations are appreciated, I was thinking 22" as you take a major price hike as soon as you hit 24".

what res are the 22"? If they are not 1440p it wont work without using other softth, or creating custom resolutions and forcing it, which will stretch/crop the images of one of the resolutions
