Dying hard drive?

Hi guys,

Just been copying a large full system backup, nearly 500GB, and I thought it was taking a while - transfer rate seemed about half of what it normally is too, so I got investigating...

It's a 2016 drive and I think I know the answer already, but it's on it's way out right?

Can you do error scan with hdtune? Make sure to uncheck quick scan. Post it here

What's the best software these days to test hdd as I have 4 in my system soo to be replaced but still

If you think it's faulty then replace it. Not worth having a hard drive on the blink with the possibility of losing all the data...

Download the manufacture's diagnostic and run that.

Any data that matters should be backed up multiple times, on and off-site. Losing a drive should be an annoyance, not a disaster.

It has an Anime version of a drive speed/health checker on it..... it deserves to die.

Also HD Sentinel will give you a more detailed S.M.A.R.T rundown and actually give you a health% based on information that smart provides instead of the vague " caution "
