My Corsair HX1050 is comming upto its 3rd year of service now. Over the last week or so ive been getting random reboots during games. The machine doesnt power down or anything, just poof.. gone.

Ive tried rolling back drivers, updating my BIOS, doing memory tests and even went as far as re-installing windows and trying various driver combinations.

After the BIOS update, ive noticed that after it reboots i get a message on bootup saying Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply.

Ive done some searching around google and its a pretty common opinion that this feature is a little too over protective and can sometimes trigger at what some seem to consider normal operation. Some people have even decided to disable it totally. I would perhaps consider this, the only thing concerning me is the fact ive not added any additional hardware or anything that would require any extra juice from the PSU. This leaves me to wonder if the PSU is actually dying on me?

Ive exhausted my PC troubleshooting know how and would appreciate any advice. Worst case scenario, i get onto corsair and ask them to make good on the 7 year warranty it has and try a different PSU from them?

Thanks :)

Warranty would definitely be my first port of call, rather than trying to disable something which isn't meant to be and causing further damage. It's worth nothing their customer service is excellent and you can expect to get a replacement unit within a week.

Can you list your full PC specs?

Yea thats pretty much what im thinking myself. Ive never RMA'd a Corsair product, but its nice to know they have a solid reputation.

Specs are

Asus p8z77v board
I5 2500k
8gb Crucial ram
x2 Samsung 840's
